New City Kids

New City Kids is a ministry for children from birth through fifth grade. We desire to create a safe and welcoming environment for your children while setting a solid, biblical foundation. Whether they’re learning to walk or learning to read, our New City teachers and volunteers will meet your child where they are. Our curriculum engages kids through stories and activities designed specifically with each different age group in mind.

Sunday Mornings  
We offer classes for birth through fifth grade at every service on Sunday mornings. During these classes, our kids learn about Jesus and participate in age-appropriate activities. Along with learning and having fun, we prioritize safety! All volunteers pass an application process and background check. Please clarify any special concerns, including allergies, custody issues, or special needs, to your child’s classroom leader.

Meet Amy!

Meet Amy!

I’m Amy Holden, a wife and mom of five, and most importantly, a follower of Jesus. I grew up in Southern California, but my family and I moved to Phoenix to better prioritize our time together and the calling God has placed on our lives. I’ve been in full-time ministry since 2014, serving youth and kids, and since 2021 I’ve been part of the New City Church team, where I’m passionate about helping families raise disciples of Jesus. When I’m not at church, you can usually find me wrangling our backyard chickens, milling my own flour, or pretending I’m running a full-blown homestead while cooking everything from scratch. (Basically, if Little House on the Prairie had WiFi, that’s my vibe.)

Kids Ministry Operations

Nursery & Toddlers

The nursery and toddler rooms are the very first stop for our littlest ones. This is where they are introduced to the love of God through interactions with our amazing team members, who encourage and pray for every child. We also begin to introduce these basic truths: God loves me, God made me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

Preschoolers

From 3 years old through pre-kindergarten, your child will join us in our preschool area every Sunday. Our preschool team helps solidify the message that God loves them, God made them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Our teachers engage each child through fun and interactive Bible story time, age-appropriate crafts and memorable application activities each week.

Elementary

K – 2nd Graders
Our early elementary students meet each week to experience engaging large group time that includes lessons from the Bible and plenty of fun and games. Then, they transition into their small group time where our amazing leaders set up games and activities that help solidify the lessons. Our hope is that kids will develop relationships with our leaders who help them apply God’s word to their lives in relevant and exciting ways.

3rd – 5th Graders
 We always have a class available for our 3rd - 5th graders! During both services, we offer a special preteen break-out group in the hopes of bridging the gap between Sunday School and Youth Group. The kids participate in fun games to build relationships with each other and their leaders and then open Scripture to read and discuss a passage and how God is using it to speak to them.
